History
S.O. Asher
In 1978, Stanford Orme Asher was among the first to pioneer the Home Lottery Fundraising model in Canada, which led to the founding of S.O. Asher Consultants. Growing mostly by referral, Asher now operates in Australia, the United States and Canada, raising unrestricted funds to support our clients’ missions.
The beginning.
Orme Asher and his friends raised money for their local community by running a lottery with a unique prize – a home. Despite the audacious goal, they successfully gave away a home and used the profits to fund great causes in their community.
More success.
Orme loved planning and managing the lottery and the venture was beneficial for the club. Eventually, Orme and his wife Shirley ran the lottery full time and S.O. Asher Consultants was born.
Growth.
Word quickly spread that Orme was able to generate undesignated funds through his charity home lottery model and he took on more clients.
Innovation.
Our client’s lotteries continued to grow, largely driven through innovation in prizing and marketing.
Launched our technology.
We invested heavily in innovation and launched our first lottery management software platform that revolutionized how we managed lottery operations.
Expansion to Australia.
We were approached by a fantastic potential client, kicking off our Australian operations. We continue to work with that same client and others today.
Further growth.
Asher continued to onboard new clients and expanded to the US, and innovated in areas such as prizing and marketing.

We have invested heavily in technology, staffing and our internal systems to maximize the undesignated funds raised for our clients.
